SalonGhor ("we", "our", or "us") operates a platform that connects users with salons, parlours, and barbershops for appointment booking, and helps salons discover independent artists across Bangladesh. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our services.
By using SalonGhor, you agree to the practices described in this policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the laws of Bangladesh, including the Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 (PDPO) and other applicable regulations.
2. Information We Collect
From Customers (Appointment Bookers)
- Name and phone number — When you book an appointment
- Email address — If provided during booking
- Favourite salons — Stored locally in your browser for quick access
- Review history — Salons you have reviewed (stored locally to prevent duplicate reviews)
- Booking history — Appointments you have made
From Business Owners (Salons/Parlours)
- Business details — Name, address, phone, email, location
- Services and pricing — Menu items and rates
- Staff information — Names and roles of team members
- Opening hours — Business schedule
- Account credentials — For dashboard access
- Artist invite activity — Invites you send and their status
From Independent Artists
- Google account identity — Name, email, Google user ID, and profile photo when you sign in with Google
- Contact details — Phone number and email you add to your profile
- Professional profile — Skills, experience, business type preferences, bio, and related fields
- Portfolio media — Photos and images you upload
- Location — Division, district, and related location fields for discovery
- Visibility settings — Whether your profile is searchable/public
- Invite and engagement data — Invites received/responded to and profile view counts
- Authentication tokens — Session/access tokens needed to keep you signed in securely
Location Data (Bangladesh)
To help you find salons, parlours, and artists near you, we use Bangladesh's administrative structure:
- Division, District, Upazila, Area — When you search, we use your selected location to show relevant results. For customers, this is not linked to your identity unless you book an appointment. For artists, location fields on a public profile may be shown to salons for discovery.
Automatically Collected
- Device information — Browser type, IP address
- Usage data — Pages visited, search queries, booking patterns, artist profile views
3. Consent
In line with the Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025, we collect and process your personal data only with your explicit consent or where we have a lawful basis. You provide consent when you book an appointment, submit a review, register your business, sign in with Google as an artist, create or update an artist profile, make your profile visible, or send/accept an invite. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or adjusting account/visibility settings where available.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To process and manage your appointments
- To display salon, parlour, and public artist information for discovery and booking
- To power Find Artist search and indexing of public artist profiles
- To enable salon–artist invites and share contact details after an invite is accepted
- To show artists aggregate profile view counts
- To send booking confirmations and reminders (via SMS or other channels)
- To authenticate accounts (including Google Sign-In for artists)
- To improve our platform and user experience
- To prevent fraud and ensure platform security
- To comply with legal obligations under the laws of Bangladesh
5. Google Sign-In
Independent artists may sign in using Google. When you do, Google authenticates you and provides us with a verified identity token and related account details (such as name, email, and profile photo). We use this information only to create or sign in to your artist account and to verify that your email is authentic.
Google's handling of your data is governed by Google's own policies: Google Privacy Policy. You can manage Google account permissions in your Google account settings.
6. Local Storage (Browser Storage)
We use your browser's local storage to improve your experience. This includes:
- Favourite salons — Up to 50 salons you have saved
- Reviewed salons — Up to 50 salons you have reviewed (to prevent duplicate reviews)
- User session — To keep you logged in on your device (including artist session tokens where applicable)
Some of this data stays on your device. Artist account authentication and profile data are also stored on our servers so you can use the service across devices.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data only in these cases:
- With salons/parlours — Customer name and phone when you book an appointment; artist public profile fields when visible; artist contact details after an invite is accepted
- With artists — Salon business details related to invites you receive
- Publicly on the platform — Artist profile fields you choose to make visible (e.g., name, skills, portfolio, location)
- Service providers — Hosting, email/SMS, authentication (Google), and search infrastructure that help us operate (within Bangladesh or abroad)
- Legal requirements — When required by law, court order, or government authorities in Bangladesh
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, secure servers, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords where applicable and keep your account details private.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide our services and as required by law. Booking records may be kept for accounting and dispute resolution. Artist profiles and invite history are retained while your account is active, and may be retained for a limited period after closure for security and legal purposes. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
10. Your Rights (Bangladesh)
Under the Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 (PDPO) and other applicable laws in Bangladesh, you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion — Request deletion of your data where legally permissible
- Restriction — Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent — Withdraw consent where we rely on it for processing (e.g., hide your artist profile or stop using Google Sign-In)
- Complaint — Lodge a complaint with the National Data Governance and Interoperability Authority or other relevant authorities

11. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect data from children. Our services are intended for users aged 18 and over. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of SalonGhor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
